Looking after you or your loved ones is only part of the equation, it is also important to ensure that you or your elderly relatives enjoy their stay at our care home. To make sure of this we provide a variety of different communal spaces including a large lounge area, equipped with a television, video and music facilities, a spacious conservatory or dining room, a quite area in the foyer and a large, but well kept garden. All of these spaces and facilities are free for residents to use as they please.

In addition to this, we occasionally have visits from a variety of different entertainers such the local choir or an exotic animal handler to make the lives of our residents just that much more interesting.

Of course we also take the time to celebrate all of holidays that our residents have been celebrating ever since they were children, such as their birthdays, Easter, Christmas, New Years and any other special occasion that the residents wish to celebrate. For each of these, our staff always go out of their way to decorate the home appropriately and create a festive atmosphere.

Kitchen & Meals

Our catering staff carefully prepares meals and all our produce is bought locally. Meals are as varied as possible and all diets are catered for. Whilst every effort is made to provide for individual residents preferences the home does not provide an ( a la carte) menu.

Our kitchen meets standards laid down by the environmental health department. These facilities are not accessible to residents owing to health and safety and food hygiene regulations Residents can avail themselves of drinks and snacks by requesting these from the care staff.

Medical Care & Services

Staffs are always on duty to plan and supervise residents care, ensuring the highest standards at all times. G.P’s, nurses and primary care will visit the home as appropriate. Residents may of course retain their own doctor if this is practical.

Opticians and dentists have been arranged for home visits as appropriate, although residents are free to make appointments outside if preferred

Physiotherapists can be arranged if needed.

A private chiropodist visits the home regularly and is charged separately, although residents are free to make an appointment outside if preferred

Shopping

Where appropriate we encourage residents to go shopping on their own or with relatives. Were this is difficult staff can assist residents by purchasing goods on their behalf or arranging a shopping trip.

Laundry & Dry Cleaning

Laundry is under taken within the home at no extra cost. All personal clothing should be abled prior to admission. Whilst every care is taken with residents clothes, it is regretted that responsibility cannot be taken for clothes lost or damaged. Management will however look at any cases of loss or damage to resident’s clothes. There are no facilities at the home for residents to do their own laundry. families however can take the laundry home if the wish. Dry cleaning services can be provided at the residents cost.

Cleaning & Maintenance

At Allendale House Care home we consider it important to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene and our staff are fully trained in hygiene control. Resident’s rooms and communal areas are routinely cleaned.

Maintenance is carried out regularly to keep the home in good decorative order. This is to ensure that we provide a safe, hygienic and pleasant environment for all residents’ staff and visitors.

Specialist Equipment

Should residents require any aids or equipment to assist in their daily living this can be arranged. Special equipment is also available via the loan service. Any requirements can be discussed with the manager / deputy manager.
